IOWA COURT REPORTERS ASSOCIATION

Kelley Neyen, CSR, RPR

I grew up in Dubuque, Iowa.  During my junior and senior year of high school, I worked at Westphal Reporting as an office assistant to see if I “liked” court reporting.  I attended school at the American Institute of Business, graduating in, yikes, 1985.  After graduation I was hired at Westphal Reporting as a freelance reporter.  Wanting to become an official reporter, I applied for a position in Waterloo and was hired by Associate Judge Joseph Moothart in the First Judicial District.  After becoming extremely homesick, my husband and I moved back to Dubuque in September of 1987, and I began working for Nancy Digman at Reporting Associates as a freelance reporter.  In April of 1988, I was hired by Bev Herring-Black, Herring Reporting Serivces, in Davenport, where  I commuted between Dubuque and Davenport almost daily until 1994 when I was hired as an official reporter in the First Judicial District by District Court Judge Lawrence Fautsch in Dubuque.  I worked for Judge Fautsch until he retired in 2010 and was then hired by his replacement, the Honorable Thomas Bitter where I still serve today.

Throughout all these years, I’ve raised four beautiful daughters who have kept me very busy.  In my free time, I enjoy running and spin classes.  As a family, we enjoy boating on the Mississippi River.

I am very excited to be serving as an official director on the ICRA Board.  I look forward to being a voice for official reporters so please feel free to contact me about any questions or concerns you may have.
