Position Summary

To serve as the official court reporter for District Court Judge Lars Anderson in Johnson County.  This position serves the counties of Linn, Johnson, Jones, Iowa, Benton and Tama. Travel to other counties within the district is required. 

Responsibilities

Employees in this class are responsible for making a verbatim record in shorthand of district court testimony and proceedings. They are also responsible for preparing certified typewritten transcripts of such proceedings.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school (GED); graduation from a school of court reporting required, with courses including legal and medical terminology, English, typing and law.  Certification as a court reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters preferred. Must be certified as a court reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters, or obtain certification within six months of date of hire.

Pay Grade 30, $51,958.40 - $80,558.40 annually, plus State of Iowa benefits including IPERS retirement program; health, dental and life insurance; deferred compensation program, flexible spending accounts plus paid vacation, sick leave and holidays.

The reporter will record court testimony via standard methods, prepare transcripts and provide general office and clerical support for the court.
