2008 Convention Schedule of Events

Your 2008 ICRA Dubuque Convention Committee has been working hard to bring you what we feel will be a very unique and exciting convention experience.

With the convention scheduled for June 18 – 20, please take some time to start thinking about joining us.  You may want to consider this a family vacation as the Tri-State area has so much to offer.

Our favorite convention highlights are:

Stone Cliff Winery:  Join us Wednesday evening for a CE point with the option of taste testing a local winemaker’s wine as you learn about the winery business in Iowa.

Hypnotist Jim Wand:  Earn points learning how hypnosis can improve your life.  If you dare, go under the spell!

American Lady:  Sit back and relax with us Thursday evening aboard the American Lady yacht.  Enjoy a beautiful educational excursion on the Mississippi River while a lockmaster shares his knowledge on lock and dam procedures, navigation of the Mississippi and the Water Resources Development Act, among other things.

Our convention will take place at Iowa’s first themed indoor water park, Dubuque’s Grand Harbor Resort and Water Park.  Check out their website for yourself at www.grandharborresort.com.  The Grand Harbor Water Park offers 25,000 square feet of wet fun for your family while you earn CE points!

Things you may want to do with your family include a trip to the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, which is within walking distance of the Grand Harbor.  And don’t forget to plan a trip to Dyersville to visit the Field of Dreams movie site and the National Farm Toy Museum.  Dyersville is a scenic 30-minute drive west of Dubuque!

Not bringing your family?  Venture over to Galena, Illinois for a one-of-a kind day trip or try your luck at one of Dubuque’s two casinos!  No matter what you do, you won’t be disappointed with Dubuque, the Masterpiece on the Mississippi.

Visit the Dubuque Chamber of Commerce’s website to learn more about the Tri-State’s offerings at www.dubuquechamber.com.  We’re still working on details, but feel free to contact one of Dubuque’s committee members if you need more information.  Committee members are Phoebe Miller, Kelly Neyen, Jane Rife and Carrie Nauman.  We can be reached via email at First.Last@jb.state.ia.us.

Start your planning!  We look forward to hosting you soon.
